THE OFFICIAL RULES FOR THE ANNUAL
BUDWEISER - LOWRANCE KING SALMON DERBY
(Read Carefully)
- The Derby committee must have you officially registered by 9:00p.m. August 4th, for you to be eligible for any cash and prizes. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A DERBY TICKET (i.e. lost it, forgot it, etc.) YOU WILL NOT BE ISSUED A DUPLICATE. Registrations received after July 30th will receive their ticket at the Seminar Will-Call booth.
- All contestants must fish according to applicable Washington State laws and Dept. of Fish and Wildlife regulations. Any infractions to these laws and regulations will result in disqualification from the Derby. Any On-The-Water violations will also result in disqualification from the Derby. We want everyone to be safe and have fun. Safety is our #1 priority. Be Smart, Be Safe & Have Fun!!
- Everyone in any boat entered into the derby MUST have a derby ticket and wristband. If anyone in the boat is entered in the derby with a valid ticket, then everyone in the boat must have a derby ticket and wristband to weigh in salmon.
- Official Derby fishing times: Friday, August 5th - 5:00a.m. - 6:00p.m. * Saturday, August 6th - 5:00a.m. - 6:00p.m. * Sunday, August 7th - 5:00a.m. - 12:00p.m. DERBY ENTRANTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO FISH INSIDE DERBY POOL BOUNDRIES OUTSIDE OF OFFICIAL DERBY HOURS STARTING AT MIDNIGHT AUGUST 5th. Anyone caught fishing before or after derby hours INSIDE the DERBY BOUNDRY will be disqualified.
- All Derby King Salmon entries must be caught within the legal description boundaries between the Brewster Bridge and Bridgeport Bridge below Chief Joseph Dam on the Columbia River.
- Official Derby weigh-in station hours: Friday, August 5th - 8:00a.m. - 6:30p.m. * Saturday, August 6th - 8:00a.m. - 6:30p.m. * Sunday, August 7th - 8:00a.m. - 12:30p.m.
- To certify each King Salmon, each entrant must present their Derby ticket, wristband and King Salmon to the check station weigh-master. There will be only one weigh-in check station located at Columbia Cove boat launch in the park gazebo. All Salmon weighed-in will be marked by hole punch in a fin or cut tail fin.
- All Derby fish will be inspected at the time of weigh-in by Washington State Biologists and Derby Officials and may be subject to dissection.
- Contestants observing violations of the Derby rules should immediately report to Derby Officials. Violators will be disqualified from the Derby and will be barred from future competitions. Derby Officials may be contacted at 509-429-0277 during Derby hours or at the weigh-in station. Any false reporting will also disqualify entrant from Derby. WDFW agents and Derby Officials will be on the water during the Derby.
- Each Derby entrant may only have one fish weighed for Derby cash or prizes. If you weigh-in multiple Salmon on your Derby ticket, only the heaviest Salmon qualifies for cash or prizes.
- Each entrant may weigh-in two King Salmon per day for the Total Weight Side Pot, Team Average Total Weight Side Pot.
- Scoring will be by weight, length and girth. Weight will be the initial factor and scored to the .01 lb (i.e. 25.06lb). Length will be the first tie-breaker measured from the snout to the V-notch in the tail. Scoring will be to the 1/16". Girth will be the second tie-breaker and scored by circumference just in front of the dorsal fin of the Salmon. Scoring will be to the 1/16".
- All Salmon must be fresh-caught by legal sportsfishing rules. No Gill or Dip-Netted or Foul-hooked Salmon may be entered. Any evidence of netting, spoilage, frozen or foul-hooked Salmon, entrant will be disqualified from the Derby.
- The Derby Committee shall have the final word on any and all disputes regarding derby rules and awarding of prizes. All Derby Committee decisions are final!
- Awards presentations and Raffle drawings will take place at approx. 1:00p.m. Sunday, August 7th at the Columbia Cove Park (By the boat launch). All prizes must be collected at the awards presentation unless prior arrangements have been made with the Derby committee
- No one under 18 years old, is eligible for raffle or drawings of any type per Washington State Gaming Rules.
- The Derby will not be cancelled due to inclement weather.
NOTICE: Budweiser, Lowrance, nor their agents, the Brewster Chamber of Commerce, nor its members, the City Of Brewster, nor its employees, nor any of the Sponsors accepts any responsibility for loss, damage or injury to any vehicle, vessel, boat, equipment, contestant, passengers, guests, or observers during this event. By purchase of a Derby ticket or volunteering in any capacity, you release and discharge the City of Brewster and its employees, The Chamber of Commerce and its members, The Sponsors and all their associated affiliates and employees, for any and all judgments and/or claims from any cause whatsoever that may be suffered by an entrant to his/her person and/or property.
